Release Date for Robin Hood

The latest Russell Crowe/Ridley Scott collaboration now has a release date set! Empire Magazine, among other sources, has reported that the tentatively titled "Robin Hood" movie has been slated for release on May 14, 2010 by Universal Pictures. With May being one of the biggest release months on the movie calendar, this means that Universal has high hopes for it. So do I! And all of Russell's other fans!

Currently set for the cast are Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian, Mark Strong as Sir Godfrey, Kevin Durand as Little John, Scott Grimes as Will Scarlet, and Alan Doyle as minstrel Allan A'Dayle.

Russell In Empire Magazine

The April issue of Empire Magazine features a six-page spread on Russell, including an interview with Martyn Palmer, who first interviewed him 19 years ago. The interview was done during the filming of State of Play in Washington, D.C. Among other things, Russell talks about working with Ridley Scott and about gaining weight for roles. The spread also includes some great pictures, and a list of the Top 5 Russell Crowe Performances, selected by Dan Jolin. The April issue will be available in stores Thursday, February 26.

"Russell Crowe tells us about his triumphs, the things he missed out on and his turn in accomplished new thriller State of Play. Crowe has heralded a return of the rugged and brooding thinking man to Hollywood screens, from his Oscar-winning turn as Gladiator Maximus to the introverted and brilliant mathematician John Nash in A Beautiful Mind. He also tells us why Ridley Scott's Nottingham fits the bill to be one of his next projects--because "It's Robin Hood, mate. I mean, come on!""

State of Play Poster

Courtesy of Empire Magazine (many, many thanks!), we get our first look at the real State of Play poster. From what I've seen so far, this poster actually conveys the feel of the movie. Makes me look forward to it even more!
