Cate Blanchett as Maid Marion?

Cate Blanchett

According to the Telegraph, among other sources, Cate Blanchett is looking like more of a certainty for the role of Maid Marion opposite Russell in Nottingham. Once it was deemed that Sienna Miller would no longer be playing the part, it was rumored that Kate Winslet, along with Blanchett and Rachel Weisz, were being considered.

According to Mark Strong, who is also part of the cast:

"I think Cate Blanchett is set to take the Maid Marian part. She is a wonderful actress and it would make it a much classier film if she was in it."

Great news if it's true! Strong is right. She's a wonderful actress!

Your Glen Times for February 4th

Don't worry. I can type with nine fingers, or would that be eight fingers and a thumb?

In any case, my hand is fine so here we go.

We have yet another new resident at the Glen and I'll be getting to that shortly. First up we could be reading the very last Kate and Colin story at the Glen. You'll see what I mean.

Kim Barrett is full of surprises as he helps Jake arrange something for Cindy's birthday. He's full of 'Grace' , his mum and romance as he shows his good side and a smile to his best clerk.

Dom gets a job and it couldn't come at a better time. He'll be working with Colin at the garage and it looks like Jess will be spending some of the dosh he earns ASAP. House hunting is on the horizon.

This brings me to the new resident at the Glen. His name is Nick Russell and he's here for a few reasons but most of all he's here to shore up some changes in his life. His old friend Pete Valentine seems to feel the changes may be the end of an era for them both.

So here's the links to today's stories. Read on!

February 4th, 2009

Will this be the end for Kate and Colin? Will she end up with Sid?

Losing Her

Cindy and Kim Barrett

It's Cindy's birthday. Jake, Kim, and Kim's mom help her celebrate.

Cindy's Night Out

Dom and Jessamine with Colin

Dom has a job interview at Colin's garage. Will he get the job? He'd better, since Jess is determined to go house-hunting the same day!

Gainfully Employed

Nick Russell

Welcome the Glen's latest resident! Who's Nick Russell and what's the story behind his move to the Glen?

Land of the Second Chance

That's all she wrote. Colleen did a great job of wrestling the press around to get it working. I'm slightly wounded you know.

If I hear one 'Poor Baby' I'm going to cry.

Just Kidding. :D

Cheers, all,

Cal

Video of Russell, Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush

Thanks to AsiaNet, here's a brief video of the ceremony at the Australia Day Lunch where Russell, Cate Blanchett, and Geoffrey Rush received the 24-carat gold replicas of their Australian Legends stamps.

Russell, Cate, and Geoffrey all appear in the first few seconds of the video as they are introduced. The last part is commentary by Cate Blanchett.

Monday's Glen Times Feb. 2

It was a long night, and it took a lot of work to compile but your NYE party RR is up. Thank's heaps to Marilyn for all of her hard work and thanks to the writers for playing in.

As for today's stories, first off we have a piece with Kate and Colin. Are they calling it quits? Did Sid manage to divide and conquer? My hands were over my eyes while I read this one, kind of.

Tense and tender moments are exchanged between Meggie and Jeffrey in the next bit. She's settled in her new home for the most part but is there room for him with her?

Richie and Toni are on the third leg of their honeymoon. There's something lost but there's also something gained in this part. Perhaps its a little perspective.

Tori and Tom take a tour of the Glen from our favorite resident twins, Bron and Ceri. They seem to have his number. We do need a fire brigade and an ambulance as you will see a bit later. It looks like Tori and Tom might just move in though.

Now to the reason I'm telling you all what's going on today. Yep, Cal did it again. He's such a baby sometimes. Shame on him for not spilling the beans about us. I'll get him for that.

Finally, Bridgid killed a snake. Well, at least she's being teased about it. Doc Knight comes to the rescue and luckily she has exactly what B needs. I hope the Doc has a good cleaning service.

..and this is why we need an ambulance and fire brigade at the Glen. It's coming very soon.

So Cal is fine but he's got to keep his hand clean for a bit. He can type so he'll be here tomorrow. No worries. Look! I'm starting to sound like an Aussie already.

Enjoy!

Thank's to Layne for blogging and to Stacey for her help with site edits today. Beej and I will be working on some of the graphics this week. Thanks Beej! Our staff is growing but we need each and every one to keep things going here.

That's it for now but things do keep moving in our little Hamlet, or would it be more like Brigadoon? Whatever it is, I sure like life here at the Glen.

Take care, everyone.

Great New RCFF Updates

Man are we smokin' or what? Another busy week on the main site, and everyone at The Glen is getting over the fantastic Australia Day bash that Steve and Millie put on for all the ressies. I think some of them got more than a great firework display at the end of the day's festivities though .;-)

Anyway, on with this week's main update:

russell_crowe_picture_078

Atonia may be down, but she's not out. Her lime green cast is her new muse and she's been busy writing more chapters in her new Alex Ross story:

On The Edge 2

Alex wonders if it was such a good idea offering the broad a lift when he realises that they are being followed.

On The Edge 3

Alex and Lori cross the border into Mexico...but how long will they be able to stay under the radar?

Bridgid is the queen of multitasking, and as well as writing for The Glen and her 'day job' has sent the next two chapters of her Bud White epic story The Police Blotter:

Chapter 25: Halcyon

How's Lonnie coping in the lockup? Her cell mate is pretty handy with her elbows. More importantly, is Bud managing to keep it together?

Chapter 26: Trials and Tribulations

Bud has pawned everything he has and with some help from Thomas has come up with Lonnie's bail money. Their reunion is short lived though as he's called out on a job.

Here's another Ilaria story. Can we guess who the hero is...answers on a postcard!

Three Years Later part 1-7

Commodus never re-opened the games in the Colosseum, thus Proximo and his school never made the journey to Rome. A 'what if' story.

Three Years Later part 8-13

Maximus and Lydah begin their new life together, and at last for both the chance of happiness in this quiet backwater of the Empire. But the gods have not finished their sport with couple...

Jo may be sporting a baby blue cast right now, but her Terry story continues this week:

A Thorne Remaining 7

Terry is becoming more comfortable in the knowledge that Allie can feel his presence, and he finds that if he concentrates he can almost communicate with her.

deadly-stare

Michelle's exciting Ben Wade story just keeps getting better each week:

Beyond Contention 8 - Faith

Mark is left to take care of his mother after her attack. Luckily he's not old enough to realise just what has happened. Joshua arrives back with Will. Alice's joy turns to despair when she sees the condition of her eldest son.

Are we all ready for the next portion of Stacey's original character piece?
Two new chapters this week:

My Island 4

Collin and Evie are safe on the island, but will need to find shelter.

My Island 5

Back in the present, Collin and Evie spend one more night together before reuniting with their loved ones.

Taffey is back this week. This time it's a Cort related story:

Herod Explains

Herod has a conversation with Sgt. Cantrell while they watch the rainstorm. The subject is Cort.

Hands up who loves Bud! Our second helping of Bud this week, and a wonderful tale from Trisha starting just as Bud is suspended:

Snow White 1-7

Bud has been suspended from duty. His day isn't all bad though. A pretty young woman is worried about him and approached him in the park.

Snow White 8-13

Bud returns from Arizona...without Lynn. When he asks Exley to help him with his medical insurance, Ed discovers a mysterious benefactor

Okay folks, that's about it for this week. It only remains for us to thank all our readers and writers for their continued support. We couldn't do it without you.

As usual, if you spot any broken links, let us know and we'll get back in there and fix them.

Bridgid, Beej, M and Marie

Glen Times Saturday Edition Jan. 31

Tomorrow is St. Brigid's day. How bout that? It's Superbowl Sunday in the States too so it may be quiet for a while.

That'll be a change.

You all know that I'm from Pittsburgh, right? GRIN

Okay, I'll get to the point.

First off we have the Australia Day RR up now. Make sure you grab a drink and settle in before you read. It's great and thanks to Stacey for compiling it.

Johnny eyesup.jpg

In our first story, Johnny Ryan settles in. Someone spots him too. Maybe she's smitten already.

Kate and Colin have a rather polite dinner guest over for the evening. Sid is ever the gentlemen when the need calls for it but there is something going on under the table. Oh boy!

In the follow up to the dinner, Kate and Colin have a bit of a spat over her actions. I honestly feel sorry for this guy but stuff happens.

Max Skinner sees some success. Did you expect anything less from him? Ceri is as pleased as punch that her banker husband is on his way to the top. Look out Trump!

Liana continues explaining to Dan exactly why she is in love with an outlaw. We could call it Divine Intervention in a way but read on and you'll understand.

Next we have another new resident at the Glen. Meet Abby Campbell. She hales from Dallas, Texas and she's found our little town. Let's see if she settles in.

That's it for now dear readers. We'll have more on tap for you as usual but for now enjoy the on going stories of the residents of "The Glen"

January 31st, 2009

Australia Day Round Robin

The Australia Day celebration in the Glen! Almost everyone was there. And boy did some interesting things happen!

Johnny Ryan

Johnny Ryan finds a place to lay his head. And hopefully someone to listen when he talks.

Out in the World

Kate and Colin with Sid

Guess who's coming to dinner with Kate and Colin? Hint: It's a Sidney, but his last name's not Poitier.

The Dinner Guest

Kate and Colin

The talk at Kate and Colin's dinner table was nothing compared to the talk that comes afterward!

After Dinner Conversation

Ceri and Max Skinner

Max and Ceri are opening another new business in the Glen. This one might help with some of the residents' financial needs.

Max Branches Out

Liana Wade and Dan Evans

Liana continues her conversation with Dan Evans. Will he finally understand her feelings for Ben?

The Answer, Part 2

Abby Campbell

Abby Campbell discovers the Glen. Will she stay?

As Good a Place as Any

Blurbs and Blogs by Layne! Thanks, love.

That's it for now. There's some great reading here so take your time and catch up with our adventures in the Glen. There's always more on the way because let's face it, Oh-bla-di Oh-bla-da life goes on!

Cheers,

Cal
