Russell To Appear on The Footy Show

According to The Daily Telegraph, Russell is set to appear on Nine Network's "The Footy Show" next Thursday. He will join panellists Andrew Voss, Fatty Vautin, and Matthew Johns to answer questions on rugby league.

``Russell Crowe is on the first week ... I hear he has asked for Fatty's and my books so he could read up on us and fire off some questions at us as well,'' Johns said. ``It should be interesting.''

Glen Times for Thursday, March 5th

Howdy, Ya'll!

Yep, Cal and Colleen are still away, so us cubbies are here doing the update tonight. Oh boy, and what a great update we have for you, too.

http://libriscrowe.com/tower/Jeffrey%20worried.jpg

First up, news travels fast in our small little community, and when Jeffrey hears about the murder he fears for Meggie's safety and quickly runs to her side to keep her safe. However, is it his protection that Meggie is really needing or wanting? Is this what they need to finally get past their issues with trust? This reporter sure is pulling for them!

Next, Liana is worried about about losing her husband because of the things he has done in his past catching up with him. Can her talk with Alistair help give her the peace of mind she needs? Like the song says, sweetie, Stand by your man!

In the first of three chapters, Joimus calls Alistair and fills him in about Marce's murder and Ahnna's attack. Now that he's returned, can he give Ahnna the comfort and security she needs?

Next up, with all that Ahnna has been through, the last thing she wants to do is go back to her flat. Does Alistair have the perfect solution for this?

Finally, Alistair takes Ahnna to the morgue in Coffs to identify her sister's body and is there to comfort her in her time of need. Love has been brewing for these two for quite some time now, and I for one am hoping they both find some real happiness in their lives soon.

Over in the more remote parts of the Glen, Robert invites Julie in to see his magnificent workshop, then into his house for a bit of tea. Is he finally letting down his guard a bit and opening up a part of himself?

Amanda has found the perfect little cottage for herself, however, will she be moving there alone?

peeg.jpghandohhh.jpgrichie courtlean.jpg

Miss Peeg, ever the busy one, has tracked down Hando, but can she talk him into going back to the boarding house? And what happens when she must tell her boss what she's been up to? I swear, this woman is some kind of miracle worker in disguise, she is! What a gal!

Last up, he's rich, he's handsome, and he's apparently used to getting what he wants. Luckily for Travis, this time is no different.

Okee-Dokie, that's all she wrote. Here's your links:

Alan Doyle in Robin Hood

The news has been announced that Alan Doyle of Great Big Sea will play the minstrel named Allan A'Dayle in Russell and Ridley Scott's upcoming Robin Hood movie. Alan produced the 2005 album "My Hand, My Heart" for Russell and the two have co-written several songs together, including "Company of Fools" from the Great Big Sea album "Fortune's Favour".

John Forbes Nash, Jr.

Continuing with a week of posts on "A Beautiful Mind", the above video records a meeting between director Ron Howard and Professor John Nash. It's a very interesting segment, in which Dr. Nash explains Nash Equilibrium and bargaining theories. Compared to other videos, more of the real Nash comes through, as he warms to a subject which fascinates him. You see the man and his sense of humor.

There's a wealth of information about Dr. Nash on the web. His home page is at www.math.princeton.edu/jfnj

in the Department of Mathematics at Princeton University. His current research interests are given as logic, game theory, and cosmology and gravitation.

Other informational sites on Dr. Nash:

Nobelprize.org
has an autobiography, which was written by Dr. Nash in 1994, at the time he received his Nobel Prize.

The PBS website has a page dedicated to the documentary film "A Brilliant Madness", produced in 2002. The site has information on the film, as well as further information on Nash, his family, and his studies.

The Schizophrenia Daily News Blog has a 2005 interview with John Nash, in which he talks about his illness and his work. He and his wife, Alicia, both mention Russell.

"He thinks that Russell Crowe should have won an Oscar for his portrayal of him. It was the wrong accent, and they met only once during filming, but "his performance was terrific". Alicia adds: "We just love Russell Crowe. It was a great movie, but it was fictionalised."

Wikipedia's page on Nash contains information about both the man and the movie.

Huge Glen Times Update! March 3rd

This is a small town, right? Let me tell you that in all my days as a newspaperman, I've never seen a small town with so much activity. I really love this place. WE broke a record with this issue.

I've had my share of ups and downs the past couple of days and while I was ..um..shall we say tied up, The Glen has been hopping.

I'm not going to drag the headlines out for you here but I'll give you a rundown.

The foreman at Travis' ranch, Jimmy Kelp, has found something. Evidence maybe?

Travis has found something too, guilt.

Sir Robert reminisces about the Crusades. His private reverie is brought to a sudden end by someone. Julie, Muffins and kisses , what a way to go.

Cortland Wells arrives at the Glen but how, why? He tells Maximus that he was always in the field. The mystery continues when Alistair comes to the Meridius' household to help.

If anyone could make Cort feel at home, its Joimus and Maximus with the help of Reverend Harris. Enjoy, there are eight chapters for starters.

Jack and Bridgid are back and they are being very much themselves.

Jason and Emma prepare to leave Sydney, after they take care of a little business. Since he's B's brother do you figure it might be a double wedding?

Nick Russell's wife Kelly gives us an idea of what she's all about. I'm wondering if she'll stay at the Glen.

Travis has a chat with his mum, Sarah McGee. She may not like everything she hears.

Ben Wade has some inner thoughts about , banks, murders, and weddings. Not necessarily in that order.

Thanks to Joimus, Meggie gets to meet a certain Reverend. There's something in the works that should be of help to John Nash but there is something else in this tale that helps Meggie realize something about herself.

Hando has a helping hand from Richie. Will he do what he is supposed to? Maybe Miss Peeg can help.

Marce's murderer finds himself on the run but not for long. He comes across a woman who bears a striking resemblance to Marce. Hopefully the cavalry will arrive on time before he repeats his crime.

Sid continues to woo Kate , as if she needs wooing but you know Sid. He's showing her the finer things in life. He then takes her on a journey around the world. From Calcutta to Tierra del Fuego. Fire and ice. Has anyone missed them at the Glen? They've been gone for weeks and they'll be back for sure with a surprise.

After all that, you still have this issue to read. It could take a while but you won't regret a single moment of it.

Yep, on with the show.

Not as Old as Some Things

It's obvious that Reverend Cortland Wells needs some TLC. Joimus and Maximus are determined to provide it.

A Place for you to Rest

Cortland Wells gets his introduction to modern plumbing. As well as some clean clothes to wear.

One Cow Coming Up

Showdown

Kate and Sid

Does Sid have real feelings for Kate? Is it even possible for him to have real feelings?

Genuinely Feeling Something

Sid certainly knows how to sweep a girl off her feet! But will he make it a permanent arrangement?

People who Live in Glass Houses

Honestly, I don't have anything else to say except thanks to Layne for the blurbs and the blogs. Thanks to our cubs, Abby and Libby for all of their tireless help and give Beej a great big cheer for the brilliant update this week.

Nice work, WRITERS! We couldn't do this without any of you.

Until next time,

Peace,

Cal

Movie of the Week: A Beautiful Mind

Before Georgia had a rare snow dumped on us and I lost my electricity and was unable to post, I had decided to start a new series focusing on one of Russell's movies each week. It was to begin with the posting of the movie each Monday. Well, I have to start on Tuesday this week, but the first Movie of the Week is A Beautiful Mind.

"At Princeton University, John Nash struggles to make a worthwhile contribution to serve as his legacy to the world of mathematics. He finally makes a revolutionary breakthrough that will eventually earn him the Nobel Prize. After graduate school he turns to teaching, becoming romantically involved with his student Alicia. Meanwhile the government asks his help with breaking Soviet codes, which soon gets him involved in a terrifying conspiracy plot. Nash grows more and more paranoid until a discovery that turns his entire world upside down. Now it is only with Alicia's help that he will be able to recover his mental strength and regain his status as the great mathematician we know him as today."
